Matthew 8:26
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
I feel as if it was speaking to each and every one of us personally (well to me anyways). Asking us "Why are you so afraid?" and yet telling us "Do not worry, I am in control" and it brings much needed relief to a busy and worry-filled life.

Matthew 8 (Part 1)
Once again, I decided to split up a chapter because it (slightly) exceeded 30 verses.
Matthew 8:7-8
7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” 8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
To have faith such as this would be amazing.. to trust Him make anything happen with just a word, no physical presence required.

Matthew 7
Matthew 7:24-25
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
A reminder that we should root our foundations in Christ (instead of worldly things).

Matthew 6 (Part 2)
Matthew 6:26-27
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
A constant reminder that worrying about our life produces no fruits, rather, rely on God because He knows what we need and He will provide.

Matthew 5
Sunday school lessons!!!
This chapter is quite condensed...
so i will separate it as it is in the Bible.
I just wanted to sneak in this verse above!!!
I just really love it.
Even when i hate myself to death
God still loves me
i think i will never understand this.

Matthew 4
verse 2:
"And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry."
Jesus is a human being after all...
But even when he was faced with Satan...being hungry and tired and all
He still "fought" back
(im not sure if "fighthing" is the appropriate word here)
I know that when i am hungry and especially tired...
I get really grouchy and mean and i can really become a b...
imagine me hungry and tired
and then satan temps me...
i think the result will be very ugly...

Matthew 3
verse 11:
"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
sandals....hahaha!

Matthew 2
verse 22:
"When [Joseph] heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee."
I wonder what it is like to encounter God in our dreams...
But i believe we encounter him every single day
if we would just be more aware of his presence
then maybe we'll feel less lonely
(i'm using "we" but you don't need to feel like i'm including you guys!
i just feel weird using "I"...)

Matthew 1
verse 19:
"Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly."
Joseph is such a caring gentleman! So mindful of her. Thinking about her first.
I don't know why "man" is italized in the KJV
You guys have any idea?
Caroline and I have been talking a lot about "guys".
And sometimes we wonder "what if they were more like this and that?"
"why can't they just be more like Joseph?"
but i think the same applies to us girls...

Matthew 6 (Part 1)
Matthew 6 - Part 1
Matthew 6:6-8
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
I chose these verses because it is a reminder that you should not be looking for public recognition when you do good works because then you are no longer doing it for God but for yourself and that when we pray, we should keep it clear and concise rather than trying for long prayers because, like it says in the end, our Father knows what we need before we ask him, so we need only ask him.

Matthew 5
I know that devotions certainly aren't on our minds all the time, but we can't forget to do it! so here's a friendly reminder through my catch up! =] I split chapter 5 and 6 into two different parts too since it's the beginning of the beatitudes.
Matthew 5 - Part 1
Matthew 5:16
"[...] let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
I chose this verse because I feel, through my actions and words, that I don't always demonstrate what is is to be a good christian and that when people look at me, they don't see Christ so it is something that I really need to work on.
Matthew 5 - Part 2
Matthew 5:21 - 22
“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment."
Matthew 5:44 - 45
"[...] love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven."
I chose these two verses because I tend to get angry at people (mainly at work) because they don't follow rules that they know they should and I imagine horrible things happening to them (involving my fist and their faces usually) and it's not right because imagining it is just as bad as actually carrying out the actions in real life and I need to learn to love them rather than get angry and rant on how much I hate them.

Matthew 4
Chapter 4:
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”
I chose this verse because its a brings a new hope; that people finally realize their sins and repent and start anew with Christ and follows His words rather than twisting it to their own evil desires.

Matthew 3
Chapter three:
11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." Matthew 3:11
Now.. I chose this verse because it reminded that even though we were baptized with water (which is an important step), we must also be baptized with the Holy Spirit which further helps us attune ourselves with God's will.

Matthew 2
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
This 4 verses (especially verse 12) make me think..."Ha! You cant mess with God's plan!"
and the Kings were humble enough to bow to a baby...their Messiah!
Matthew 1
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel" - which means "God with us".
Matthew 1:23
I love the concept of..."with"ness lol when i was reading harry potter (i swear this is relevant!) when dumbledor drank that stuff and was almost dying...Harry says dont worry ill get you back..dumby says "I am not worried, I am with you"
and I CRIED MY EYEBALLS out!!!! I dont know why! i was just so touched!!!
anyway, you DONT have to explain anything...but feel free to if you wanna say something! just shout it out! :D
