Matthew 4

Chapter 4:

16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”

I chose this verse because its a brings a new hope; that people finally realize their sins and repent and start anew with Christ and follows His words rather than twisting it to their own evil desires.

  1. Jesus answered him, "It is also written 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test'"
    Matthew 4:7

    This has always puzzled me a little bit...
    so technically we have faith that anything is possible with God, but we shouldnt test Him to prove His power/existence. is this because He doesn't need to do anything we ask/demand, and He doesnt need to prove anything to us?

  2. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him.
    Matthew 4:19-20

    it's funny how Matthew made it seem so easy: immediately they got up and followed.
    A lot of the times, I close my eyes and imagine the disciples, the people of the Bible...imagine them in real life, imagining them with real emotions, fears, dreams, failures, hopes.

    they are humans, and yet they followed Jesus at once, dropping everything else in their lives!
